Sandy Malungahu LLB

Lawyer

Born and raised in South Auckland, Sandy completed her Bachelor of Laws at the University of Auckland at the end of 2020, and was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in 2021.

Sandy has always had a passion for young people and a heart for families and the community. She developed a keen interest in the practice of Family Law whilst studying at University.  Her experience as a Registrar at the Auckland Family Court solidified her passion for Family Law.

An adage that guides her actions is a Māori proverb:

“He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tāngata! He tāngata! He tāngata!

What is the most important thing in the world? It is people! It is people! It is people!”

Sandy understands that Family Law practice encompasses dealing with vulnerable people and delicate issues. She treats all clients the same and is focused on understanding her client’s needs and finding practical solutions for all her clients.

Outside the workplace Sandy enjoys nature, travelling, exploring new places and spending time with her whānau and friends.

Sandy is of Maori and Tongan descent with German and Scottish ancestry.  She has tribal links to Ngāi Tūhoe (Tūhoe) in the Bay of Plenty Region and Te Arawa in Rotorua. In Tonga she is from Nukualofa in Tongatapu, Tungua and Ha’afeva in Ha’apai and Tu’anuku in Vava’u.
